Colusa Riverside Alpacas has been working very hard over the past three years to develop their breeding program with nationally ranked EPDs in their alpacas. ARAPAHO SNOW'S MACCHU PICCHU HERDSIRE IS IN THE TOP EPDs in THE NATION for all traits. Macchu Picchu's half sister Whitney Snow has been honored in the AOA Nationals for her top trait ranking in curvature for the past 3 years. It is very rare to come across a stud whose significantly better than the national herd in all 9 fleece character trait EPDs. He is below 5% in most fiber trait determination and at most 19%. Guaranteed improvement in offspring fiber trait character for all histogram fiber traits, quite an attribute for a breeding sire. Also, the relatively rare combination of fineness, fiber weight increases and staple length are indeed an even more rare combination in a sire.

Macchu Picchu's AFD EPD is better then nearly 98% of the 16,828 alpacas tested by AOA in 2014. The uniformity of fiber EPD character is by far the most positive genetic attribute for Picchu. Picchu has proven over the past 6 years his fiber character also has longevity in fineness, with little change in AFD diameter with age. Though not a measurable trait on EPDs, clearly fiber longevity is a heritable trait Picchu can also pass along to offspring.

Macchu Picchu is in the tradition and genetics of Hemingway and Snowmass. Arapaho Snow's Macchu Picchu has fiber luster, staple length and crimp. He is an ideal alpaca with beauty outside and desirable genetics inside. Picchu improved his placing in the showring with a 1st place at age 4, over a 3rd at age 3. Picchu's Histogram AFD is minimally changed in the past 5 years. Not only is his fiber long and luxurious, his fineness is uniform throughout with a SD of 3.9. He has a gorgeous head, appropriate bite, and appropriate conformation. Probably fiber weight gain EPD of 1/2 pound (0.529 FW) in offspring is very important.

Not many herdsires can make the above claims. Make your reservations now, for a breeding or better yet, consider buying a half interest in this young gifted herdsire. A breeding 50% trade would be considered with comparable EPDs.
